Artist's Description

Meem’s Bottom Covered Bridge in Mount Jackson, Virginia is the longest covered bridge still in operation in Virginia. Constructed in the late 1800’s from materials cut and quarried nearby. In the 1930’s it was deeded to the Highway Department. The original bridge was burned by vandals on Halloween 1976. The current bridge was reconstructed with original salvaged timber, and new steel beams, and concrete piers. Reopened to traffic in 1979, the bridge is operational and part of the Wilderness Trail in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Images and textures have been layered to create a composite art print of a original photograph.
