Two Windsor chairs, side by side, looking out over the valley. Two chairs waiting for two friends to sit and rest. Peace and quiet reign, cares are put aside and contemplating the light over the valley is the order of the day.
This picture was taken in a garden pavilion in the terraced vegetable garden of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Images and textures have been layered to create a composite art print of a original photograph.
The vegetable garden evolved over many years, beginning in 1770 when crops were first cultivated along the contours of the slope. Terracing was introduced in 1806, and by 1812, gardening activity was at its peak. About Terry Rowe
Terry Rowe has a lifetime of experience in the arts. She is a creative exploring photography, graphic design, stitchery, jewelry making, and sculpting. One of the original founders of the Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, Virginia, she has been actively involved in the arts for over twenty years. She recently retired, after 41 years of service, as the Art Director, House Creative Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives. In her photographs, Terry seeks to capture a moment, to give the viewer a glimpse of place and time that arrests the movement of life and allows one to savor what is there to be seen.
