Artist's Description

Pre-dawn I rise to catch first light on Jenkin's Creek, St. Helena Island, Dawtaw, South Carolina. Near Beaufort, South Carolina, this is a beautiful area, tidal creek, and the long vista over marshes and water.

Images and textures have been layered to create a composite art print of a original photograph.

Dataw Island is one of 64 significant islands to be found in Beaufort County.

Once a prosperous sea island cotton plantation, Dataw Island is now a successful gated community of 1100 properties offering its residents the best in coastal, island living. Both Dataw Island and Beaufort, SC consistently rank high in nationally published lists of preferred places to live.

Terry Rowe has a lifetime of experience in the arts. She is a creative exploring photography, graphic design, stitchery, jewelry making, and sculpting. One of the original founders of the Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, Virginia, she has been actively involved in the arts for over twenty years. She recently retired, after 41 years of service, as the Art Director, House Creative Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives. In her photographs, Terry seeks to capture a moment, to give the viewer a glimpse of place and time that arrests the movement of life and allows one to savor what is there to be seen.
