Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Lady prays with a blue sky backdrop. A statue of the Virgin Mary was unveiled at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Santa Fe, New Mexico in August 2008.
Catholics from Northern New Mexico made the journey from Mexico City with a 12 foot-tall, 4,000 pound statue of the Patron Saint of the Americas. Mexican sculptor Dona Georgina Farias created the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The statue was placed in front of the Santuario de Guadalupe, the oldest church in the United States honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe. The journey to New Mexico followed the Camino Real, the historic route taken from Mexico City to the northern territory of New Mexico by early Spanish settlers. The statue made its journey from Mexico City to Santa Fe, stopping in Zacatecas, Durango, Chihuahua, El Paso (where it was temporarily detained by customs) and Rio Rancho along the way.

Terry Rowe has a lifetime of experience in the arts. She is a creative exploring photography, graphic design, stitchery, jewelry making, and sculpting. One of the original founders of the Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, Virginia, she has been actively involved in the arts for over twenty years. She recently retired, after 41 years of service, as the Art Director, House Creative Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives.
