A horse drawn carriage driving away down a road in colonial Williamsburg. This photograph, processed in old-time sepia would look great in a colonial-style room or be a wonderful reminder of a trip to colonial Williamsburg. Check out the other sepia images in this series.

Colonial Williamsburg is a combination of a historical landmark and a living history museum. The core of Colonial Williamsburg, known as the "Historic Area." is located along Duke of Gloucester Street and the Palace Green that extends north perpendicular from it. This area is largely flat, with ravines and streams branching off on the periphery. Duke of Gloucester Street and several others are closed to motorized vehicles, in favor of pedestrians and animal-drawn vehicles.

Surviving colonial structures have been restored to estimates of 18th-century appearance, with traces of later buildings and improvements removed. Many of the missing Colonial structures were reconstructed on their original sites b...

Terry Rowe

Terry Rowe has a lifetime of experience in the arts. She is a creative exploring photography, graphic design, stitchery, jewelry making, and sculpting. One of the original founders of the Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, Virginia, she has been actively involved in the arts for over twenty years. She recently retired, after 41 years of service, as the Art Director, House Creative Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives. In her photographs, Terry seeks to capture a moment, to give the viewer a glimpse of place and time that arrests the movement of life and allows one to savor what is there to be seen.
