Still life composite of two photographs, the landscape of New Mexico and one Bosc pear blended with filters and a film frame.

A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).

Just like the painter, a photographer arranges objects into a composition and then takes a photograph of the arrangement; this allows the photographer to control the narrative of their picture.

She recently retired, after 41 years of service, as the Art Director, House Creative Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives.
